The Lens – Winning Amstel Gold Race

This photo was taken after crossing the finish line in Amstel Gold Race, after I won. I was definitely filled with so many different emotions that are difficult to describe.

I knew that I was strong that day but dropping everyone on the Cauberg was very special. It felt amazing. I couldn’t believe that I did that because I didn’t have a lot of confidence in myself.

That victory gave me a great boost of energy and I was super happy that I could deliver this victory for my team. Everyone worked so hard from the beginning of the season and we were always missing just a little something.

I was super happy that I could finish the work off and enable to celebrate with my teammates. I’m about to grab Alexis Ryan in this picture. She’s someone who is very close to my heart that I love and appreciate. I was very happy to see her there.

In that moment, you know that you won the race but it’s so hard to believe it. You’re in shock and ask, “what just happened?” You can’t hear anything, even your own thoughts. It’s a beautiful feeling. I will remember this day until the end of my life.
