My season got off to a rather challenging start with illness and crashes at bad times. But after taking a little break and racing Tour of California, I feel things are on the up. I’m really happy in my new team @CCCLivTeam and I’m really motivated for the 2nd part of the season. https://t.co/me7KqRHaRg

I’m not cycling only for results, I’m doing it for a greater cause … self growth, growth in faith, mentoring teammates and inspiring others are some of the things that motivate me. If you find meaning in these causes, then even the tough times are fulfilling in a strange way. https://t.co/DcoZAOtmnb

Cycling is a tough sport. We put in all the hard work and commitment to be on great form, but there are so many things out of our control on race day. For me the only way to stay motivated through the disappointments, is to find motivation from within, and not only from results. https://t.co/DcoZAOtmnb

After a challenging spring it was important to totally reset, and no better way to do so than going to a new place. There´s something really special about new experiences, I believe it stimulates growth and change in mindset. I arrived at Tour of Cali very happy and positive. https://t.co/PSVQuoOjVE

My refreshed mindset definitely played a roll in my podium at Tour of Cali. It was like starting my season all over. Tour of Cali was a great vibe, very relaxed. The scenery was spectacular and the support was great. The fans are very spontaneous and enthusiastic in the US. https://t.co/PSVQuoOjVE

It all depends how we define success. Off course I´d like to win a WWT race … but I believe I’ve already had a successful season. I’ve adapted to my new team, I’m happy there and I’ve contributed to great team victories. My new business @R_Cycling is doing well and I’m healthy. https://t.co/1ABtGXHAbu

Hmmm … are you saying I’m old 🤣 … ok let’s be serious. I’m a very open person, so I share a lot. But I suppose what some people don’t know is that I’m qualified as a Chem Eng, but decided to pursue a career in pro cycling after falling in love with the sport at university. https://t.co/sWikMaLxNJ

Some other day to day things … I love cooking and at the moment I’m really into cooking Moroccan cuisine. I love the flavours … and lamb tagine is my favourite dish. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I do love dark chocolate. And a real treat is a good glass of red win. https://t.co/sWikMaLxNJ

Things are so hectic during the races, that its sometimes hard to remember exact moments. So much happens and there are so many split second decisions, it all becomes a bit of a blur. But there are some light hearted interactions and often its because of language barriers. https://t.co/4vrm1HFW2l

For example, while racing in the heat in Aus I asked one of my teammates for a bottle of ISO (the dutch call energy drink ISO) … so my teammate went back to the car and she arrived back with ice … but no bottle of ISO. Anyway, the ice was nice in the heat so I didn’t complain https://t.co/4vrm1HFW2l

Of course, for those who don’t know … together with my family we started a cycling tourism business in Banyoles, Girona to share our passion for cycling and for the area with others. It´s called @R_Cycling and it´s situated in a historical villa at the foot of Rocacorba climb. https://t.co/MgUXSNrH47

I live on the property with my family. It is a beautiful location above the Banyoles lake and at the foot of the mountains, but close to the city. And if you looking for me, you’ll find me climbing Rocacorba 😆 https://t.co/MgUXSNrH47
